PokerTab privacy policy

Last updated: 31 August 2026

PokerTab is a bookkeeping app for in-person home poker games. It tracks who bought in for what, what everybody cashed out, and who owes whom at the end of the night. It is not a gambling app: no wagering happens in it, no money moves through it, and there is nothing to win or lose inside the app itself.

This page describes everything PokerTab stores about you. It is short because there is not much, and that is on purpose.

The short version

What is stored, and why

Your account. When you first open PokerTab it creates an anonymous account. It holds no name, no email address and no password — it is an identifier and nothing else.

If you later choose Continue with Google or Continue with Apple, that account gains one thing: the email address the provider reports, and an identifier for that sign-in. It is stored so you can get back into your own account from another phone, and it is used for nothing else — no mail is sent to it. You are never asked to sign in, and the app works completely without it.

The name you type. Shown to the other people in your groups, so they know whose buy-ins are whose. You can change it at any time; hosts can correct the name on a guest player.

Your groups and your poker nights. Group names, join codes, who is in a group, and for each night: who played, each buy-in and rebuy, each cash-out, any chip counts, and the resulting profit or loss. This is the app's actual content — without it there is nothing to show you.

Roughly when things happened. Timestamps on nights and transactions, so history is in order and statistics can cover a season.

That is the complete list. PokerTab does not collect your location, your contacts, your photos, your device identifiers, or a record of how you use the app.

The camera

If you scan a group's QR code to join, PokerTab uses the camera to read the eight characters in it. The image never leaves your phone, is not stored and is not sent anywhere. You can always type the code instead, and the app never asks for the camera unless you open the scanner.

What is kept on your phone

So that a poker night works in a basement with no signal, your phone keeps a small amount of data locally: your sign-in token, a cached copy of the groups and nights you have open, and any buy-ins you have recorded that have not reached the server yet. It is a few kilobytes. Signing out or deleting the app removes it.

Who else can see it

The people in your poker groups. Members of a group see that group's line-ups, buy-ins, results and standings, including yours. A group is joined with a code that its members pass around, so treat the code the way you would treat an invitation to the game itself. Hosts can reset a group's code if it has travelled too far.

Supabase, which hosts the database and the accounts on our behalf, as a processor under a data processing agreement. Data is stored in the European Union — Supabase's eu-central-1 region, in Frankfurt, Germany. It is not transferred outside the EU.

Google or Apple, but only if you chose to sign in with them, and only to confirm that the account is yours. They are told that somebody signed in to PokerTab; they are not told anything about your groups, your games or your results.

Nobody else. There is no advertising network, no analytics provider and no data broker involved, because the app contains no code that talks to one.

Legal basis

Under the GDPR, PokerTab processes this data to provide the app you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) — performance of a contract). Camera access is used only on your instruction, and only while you have the scanner open.

How long it is kept

Your account and its data are kept until you delete the account. There is no automatic expiry: a group's history is the reason the group exists, and last season's standings are supposed to still be there next season.

Deleting your account

Your account → Delete your account, in the app. What is removed, what stays and why is set out in full on a page of its own:

Deleting your PokerTab account

The short version: your account and any linked Google or Apple sign-in are deleted, and the results of nights you played stay in the history of the groups you played them in, disconnected from any account. They are half of what other people at that table settled up on, and removing them would silently change money those people already agreed on. That page also covers the route for somebody who can no longer install the app.

Your rights

You can ask for access to your data, correction of it, deletion of it, a copy of it, or restriction of its processing, by writing to pokertab.app@gmail.com. You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority.

For access and deletion, note the limit described above and on the deletion page: an account that was never secured with Google or Apple carries no email address, so there is nothing to match a request against, and nobody — including us — can tell which account is yours from an email. The in-app route works for those accounts because the phone already knows which account it is holding.

Children

PokerTab is not directed at children and should not be used by anyone under 16. It is a tool for adults keeping track of a home game.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the previous versions stay in the public history of the page.
